About Make With Mandi

The story so far

Hi, I’m Mandi, I design sewing patterns for people like me. 

My goal is to make sewing your own stylish wardrobe enjoyable and easy, and I’m here to help. 

I grew up to the sound of a whirring sewing machine. My mum was a machinist and sewed all day and night. It wasn’t until I moved away that I realised how lucky I had been growing up in a household where making your own clothes was the norm.

I studied Fashion at University and went on to have a career working as a garment tech and product developer for several retailers and brands around the London (UK) area.

I currently work fulltime as an interiors buyer, and am running this business in my spare time.

So how did it all start?

During the strangest year ever, (2020) I was able to spend more time at home and revisit skills which had been left behind due to work commitments. I absolutely love pattern cutting and take great pleasure turning something from a 2d pattern into a 3d garment. Rest assured there is also plenty of cursing along the way!

In the past I have thought nothing of whizzing up an outfit to wear later that day and I want you to have the same confidence and joy. Making your own clothes should be fun and the end result should give you a garment you want to wear again and again. I don’t believe in perfection, I believe in improvement. Make with Mandi patterns come with detailed instructions to help get you on your way and start building and practicing skills. It’s up to you whether you iron all the pieces, or baste all the seams…this is your sewing journey and you can do it in your own style. I will be here along the way to guide you and support you.
